Workspace- the playground of Enterprise Capture

Starting with basics, Enterprise Capture (EC) is not a windows installable app, its a web based app to be deployed on WebLogic just like other apps in the WCC stable. The concepts of EC does not change/vary  much wrt the older Document Capture, but its different. New ui, new roles, new enterprise setup, new problems, new issues, new solutions 🙂

Before we actually get into the basics of new “Enterprise Capture (EC)”, would like to emphasize the role that “Enterprise Manager (EM)” plays in this whole setup.

You would need the EM installed, configured and up’n’running to fully utilize the EC product. It will be used to to basic configurations for the EC, assign the application specific roles to a user/group, to view the runtime utilization and performance of the EC setup, etc.

So, if you do not have the EM in your environment yet, pls go ahead and get him in before you proceed.

Once done, proceed with the EC and its workspace.

In simple terms, Workspace (WS) is the playground of Oracle Enterprise Capture. This is the place where all things come together. Right from defining the attributes, defining who (user)  is what (app roles like WS-Manager, WS-viewer, etc.), creating Document profiles, defining Import Processors , Recognition Processors or Commit Processors job details, and not to forget, to configure the custom js scripts for your individual processors.

The urls that will be used (the default one, check your own in your environment wrt ports/ips/host-names/etc.)

http://localhost:16400/dc-console for the WS-Manager to configure things.

http://localhost:16400/dc-client for the end user of EC setup.

More to follow…..
